Your privacy
at Lowcate.
This policy explains how Lowcate handles information when you explore places and events in Lebanon, create an account, or contribute content.
Who to contact
Lowcate is maintained by Alain Badran. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or deletion help, email badranalain87@gmail.com.
Information you provide
- Account: name, email address, authentication credentials handled by Supabase, and an account identifier. Google sign-in provides account information needed to sign you in.
- Optional profile: mobile number, date of birth and a selected profile photo. Profile photos use private storage and temporary access links.
- Collections: collection names and the places you add are stored with your account.
- Contributions: event submissions and selected event photos, business claims, verification explanations, listing update requests and correction reports. Claims can include your business email, telephone number and relationship to a business.
- Support: messages and attachments you choose to send us. Do not send passwords, verification codes, payment details or identity documents.
Location and information on your device
When you choose Around me and allow location access, Lowcate uses your foreground location to calculate distances to places on your phone. The current app does not send your GPS coordinates to Lowcate's server or track your location in the background. You can deny permission and select a city instead.
Search text, local favourites and interested-event selections are handled on your device. Account collections are different: they are stored on our server so they can follow your account. Authentication sessions use secure device storage.
Photos and calendar
Lowcate uploads only photos you select and save or submit. It does not upload your photo library. Event photos are stored at public URLs; only upload images you have permission to share, and avoid private information in them. Submitted event information is reviewed before publication in the directory, but an uploaded event photo's URL can be accessible before that review.
Add to calendar opens your phone's calendar interface. The app does not upload your calendar contents to Lowcate. Older iOS versions may request calendar permission. Saved calendar entries do not automatically change when an event changes, and remain in your calendar after account deletion.
Why we use information
We use information to operate accounts and collections, display approved contributions, verify business claims, review corrections and events, answer support requests, and protect the service against abuse. The current app does not use advertising SDKs or cross-app advertising tracking, and we do not sell personal information.
Service providers and external links
Supabase provides account, database and file-storage services. Google handles Google sign-in if you choose it. Maps load OpenStreetMap tiles and Leaflet resources from unpkg. Business and event images can load from third-party image hosts. These providers receive network information such as your IP address, request time and device/browser headers; map providers can also see the map tiles requested. Service logs may retain technical request information for operation and security.
Directions, social profiles, business websites and ticket links open external services governed by their own policies. Lowcate does not receive payment card details from external ticket purchases. Hosting and service providers may process information outside your country.
Publication and sharing
Approved event details and listing updates can appear publicly. Private claim evidence, profile contact details, date of birth and account collections are not displayed as public directory content. Authorized reviewers can access information needed to review submissions and claims. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Retention and account deletion
We keep account information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. In the updated app, go to Profile → Delete account and confirm. This removes the account, uploaded profile and event photos, account collections, claims, edit requests, correction reports and submission links. Public business listings and event information remain without the deleted account link; reviewer identifiers are removed from review history.
Local favourites, interested events and calendar entries remain on your device. Remove those separately if you wish. Copies in provider backups, logs or caches may remain until the provider's retention cycle ends; deletion from active systems is not a promise of immediate removal from every backup or third-party cache. Information you emailed to support may need a separate deletion request. We may retain information where required by law or needed to resolve a dispute.
Your choices
You can browse without signing in, edit optional profile details, revoke location and photo permissions in device settings, delete your account, or contact us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children and content
Lowcate is a general directory, not a children's app. It includes nightlife and events with their own age restrictions. An optional date of birth is not an age-verification or parental-control system. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, contact us.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and show the effective date above.
